World Oceans' Day

 Did you know? The ocean covers more than 70 percent of the earth’s surface. About 94 percent of the earth’s wildlife is found in the ocean. More than 70 percent of the earth’s oxygen is produced by the ocean. The sun is what makes the ocean blue.   The deepest part of the ocean is called the Mariana Trench, which is around 11 Kilometres deep and is located in the South Pacific Ocean. Coral creates its own “sunscreen” by producing coral fluoresce that protects the algae found in coral. World Environmental Day

Not another International Day I hear you say!  Seems like we have a "Day" for everything now.  But World Environment Day celebrated on the 5th June annually is a no brainer when it comes to an important day.  It's an occasion when  environmental groups can educate the public on issues of environmental concern, address global problems and celebrate the achievements of humanity.   I feel blessed for most of my life for having lived in places with clean air and surroundings. Appreciating nature comes naturally living here in Sabah.  Everywhere is naturally beautiful.  Untouched and relatively undeveloped the hope is that Kota Kinabalu will remain that way.  Never ending melodies from different birds whistling all day long, small lizards and...

Back to Nature

When a friend suggested that we meet for lunch at Signal Hill, which, as the name suggests would be on the top of a hill, you conjure up a vision of sprawling views across KK.  Not so, in fact, not even close.  After getting lost, as we often do following the GPS here, for some reason, we found ourselves near the Observatory.  Thinking that we must be the right area, as we are on the top of the hill.  Not so, not even close once more.  Stopping to ask a pedesstrian for directions, then followed by a phone call, we made our way to the bottom of the hill.  Oh, is this is!  This is different, its a farm!  "Hope we...
